Raychel C. Proudie is a native and resident of Ferguson, MO and is a PROUD product of the Ferguson-Florissant School District (Central Elementary School, ’95; Ferguson Middle School, ’97; McCluer High School ’01).
Thanks to the diligence and dedication of the educators of the Ferguson-Florissant School District, Raychel learned the value of a quality education and has earned the following degrees and certifications:
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education- Grambling State University, Grambling, LA
Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling- Southern University and A&M College, Baton Rouge, LA
Internship in Professional Counseling – Student Support Services- Dillard University, New Orleans, LA
Doctorate of Education (ABD)- Developmental Education w/ concentration in Student Personnel Services- Grambling State University (Candidate, coursework completed; 3.94 GPA)
Certified Elementary Educator (1-6) and Professional School Counselor (K-12) in Missouri, Illinois, and Louisiana
Raychel began her career as a 3rd grade teacher in 2006 in Post- Hurricane Katrina Baton Rouge, LA. She has 10 years of professional experience in various capacities in public school systems. Raychel is a member of several professional organizations such as the National Association for Developmental Education, the National Academic Advising Association, the National Association for Campus Activities, and the National Alliance of Black School Educators. Raychel is also a PROUD member of the Missouri National Education Association and serves as her building's Union Representative. Through these organizations, she has had the privilege to better serve students, parents, and other stakeholders.
Experience and community engagement drives Raychel’s desire to be involved in leading and implementing sound policies. She is honored to deliver meals to seniors, organize coat and glove drives, attend local high school sporting events to cheer on the home team, and mentor students as they prepare for college. Raychel has learned so much from interacting with her neighbors, and is eager to continue working with them in meaningful ways.
Raychel is the middle child of an Honorably Discharged Army Veteran (late) and a State of Missouri employee who has dedicated her life and career to mental health care. Along with her mother, Raychel is raising her nephew, who is a student at Ferguson Middle School. Raychel lives in Ferguson’s Ward 3 with her Lhasa Apso, Leonidas.
